The Kansas wheat crop is projected at 273.0 million bushels, up 4 percent from the earlier June 1 forecast, but down 24 percent from the 2010 crop. It is the lowest production since 2002.
Acres harvested were 7.8 million acres, down 200,000 acres from a year ago and the smallest area harvested since 1957.
Yield per harvested acre is expected to average 35 bushels, up 1 bushel from the June forecast, but down 10 bushels from the 2010 yield. This would be the lowest yield since 2007.
