The number of Kansas cattle on feed on February at large feedlots totaled 2.27 million head, up 1 percent from a year ago and down less than 1 percent from Jan. 1.
Placements during January totaled 435,000 head, down 8 percent from January 2010 but up 6 percent from December.
Marketings during January totaled 435,000 head, down 8 percent from January 2010 and down 9 percent from December.
Other disappearances was 10,000 head, unchanged from a year ago and the previous month.
The percent of January placements by weight was: under 600 pounds, 13 percent; 600-699 pounds, 27 percent; 700-799 pounds, 38 percent; and 800 pounds or heavier, 22 percent.
