Boundless Enterprises, based in Omaha and the operator of 22 Scooter's Coffeehouse stores, has purchased the coffee franchise business from SJE Inc.
The purchase does not affect ownership by individual franchisees, company officials said, but gives Boundless control over future franchise sales and operations and an opportunity to further strengthen the Scooter's brand, quality control and service.
Wichita has four Scooter's Coffeehouse stores; El Dorado has one, according to the company website.
Boundless was established in 2006 by Don Eckles, Jay Baker and Ben Gilbert. It acquired development rights for the greater Kansas City metro area, Denver and the San Antonio and Austin areas in Texas. Boundless has three additional locations under construction and several others in development.
The company employs about 135 people in five states. It also is the parent company of Harvest Roasting in Bellevue, Neb., which supplies the Scooter's Coffeehouse franchise with coffee beans and other related products.
