Cox Communications of Kansas and Arkansas has been named a winner in the national 2010 Beacon Awards competition, sponsored by the Association of Cable Communicators.
Winners were announced during a September ceremony in New York City.
Cox's winning entry, "Uniting through Our Differences - Communicating and Committing to Diversity," highlights how the Kansas/Arkansas system, which serves over 150 communities spanning a drive time of nearly 10 hours from one side to the other, has embraced and celebrated different ways of thinking and living critical to employee morale and customer satisfaction. Hundreds of entries were received in this year's Beacon Award competition, with 46 winners selected by cable communications professionals in an extensive two-phase judging process. Entries represented company initiatives implemented over the past year, in dozens of areas ranging from community relations and cable programming to brand management and cause marketing. Cox is a broadband communications and entertainment company, providing advanced digital video, Internet, telephone and wireless services over its own nationwide IP network. Cox serves more than 6 million residences and businesses.
