The Kansas Construction Careers Coalition will sponsor its Construction Learning Center this year at the Kansas State Fair.
For the fourth year, the display is intended to recruit workers to an industry that grew 4,000 jobs from July 2009 to July 2010, according to the Associated General Contractors of Kansas.
This year, visitors to the exhibit will be able to build two full-size playhouses that will be donated to the Kansas Fair Foundation and NewBeginnings, a Hutchinson-based non-profit which offers transitional and affordable housing for the homeless.
The center is located at the intersection of Lake Talbott and Fort Leavenworth on the fairgrounds.
The coalition is a partnership between the AGC of Kansas, the Kansas Construction of Association, the National Association of Women in Construction and the Kansas Society of Land Surveyors.
