WICHITA — The Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner closed Sylvan Grove-based Thunder Bank Friday.
The $32 million bank and its two branches will reopen Monday as branches of Salina-based Bennington State Bank.
Sylvan Grove is northwest of Salina.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said Bennington entered into a purchase and assumption agreement, which allows it to assume all of Thunder Bank's deposits.

Thunder Bank customers can continue to access their money by writing checks or using their debit and ATM cards. Checks drawn on Thunder Bank will continue to be processed, the FDIC said.
The FDIC estimated the cost of closing the bank will be $4.5 million to its deposit insurance fund.
Thunder Bank's closing marks the fifth Kansas bank closing since 2008.
Thunder Bank also was the 100th bank closing this year, the FDIC said.
