Kara Hunt, director of human resources at The Wichita Eagle, has been presented the Professional of the Year award by the Wichita Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.
Hunt has been involved in the chapter for more than six years and has held numerous offices including serving as vice president of membership, president-elect and president.
She was presented with the award Wednesday at a chapter function and will represent the Wichita chapter as a nominee for the George Trombold Award on the state level. The winner will be announced at the state conference in September.
In addition to chapter activities, Hunt has been a Big Sister for Big Brothers and Big Sisters for four years and a delivery driver for Meals on Wheels for two years. Hunt has served for two years on the United Way Allocations Committee, among other activities. She is active in her church and has been a Sunday school teacher, church secretary, and women's department leader.
