Manufacturing activity in the Kansas City Federal Reserve district grew in April, according to its monthly survey of manufacturers in the district that includes Kansas.
The Fed said the net percentage of firms reporting month-over-month increases in production in April was 24, up from 18 in March and 19 in February.
Production increases were noted at both durable and nondurable goods plants.
Indexes for shipments, new orders and order backlogs moved higher. The employment index was at its highest level in more than two years, the Fed said.
Indexes for future factory activity were mixed, it said.
