Fifty-four Kansas oil producers have filed suit in Pratt County District Court against a number of large oil refiners, saying they were never paid for the oil they delivered.
The suit stems from the bankruptcy in 2008 of SemGroup and its many subsidiaries, including SemCrude, SemGas and Eaglwing.
SemGroup emerged from bankruptcy in October. As part of the settlement, the producers were paid a portion of what they were owed for the oil. Now, the producers are suing the refiners for the remainder.
A similar suit has been filed by 33 Oklahoma producers.
