The new 144,000-square -foot Via Christi hospital and attached medical office building at 21st Street North and 151st Street West is nearing completion, on budget and on time for a projected early August opening.
Work inside on the hospital's upper floors is nearly complete, with first floor completion soon to follow, hospital officials said. Finish work also is under way on the hospital's 5,000 feet of administrative and conference area space in the medical office building.
Outside, the storm sewer is in and the bridge over St. Teresa Street is finished, allowing access to the new hospital from 21st Street instead of 151st Street, which subsequently was closed for improvements.
Landscaping also is under way, with berms established around the hospital, the rest of the property tilled and seeded with native prairie grass and trees ready to be planted.
