Kansas wheat continues to progress, but farmers are concerned about the level of disease in this year's crop.
In south central Kansas, 95 percent of the wheat crop has developed heads.
In the state, the total with a developed head was lower, 64 percent. The condition of the wheat statewide is 63 percent good or excellent, 28 percent fair and the rest poor or very poor. And 10 percent of the wheat has a light or moderate insect infestation.
But 25 percent of the state's wheat is reported as having either light or moderate amounts of powdery mildew, stripe and leaf rust.
