The first payments in the latest round of emergency unemployment compensation will go out at the end of the week.
The Kansas Department of Labor is assessing the eligibility of 9,500 Kansans who have exhausted benefits from earlier rounds and will issue the funds within days.
The federally-funded program provides 13 more weeks of benefits. Those who think they may be eligible should wait to be notified by the Kansas Department of Labor.
To be eligible for Tier III benefits:
* They must exhaust regular state unemployment benefits; plus the earlier Tier I and Tier II benefits.
* If Tier II benefits were exhausted before Nov. 22 , all State Extended Benefits must be exhausted.
* They can't be eligible for unemployment benefits in another state or in Canada.
* They must be unemployed or working less than full-time.
The Tier III benefits are federally funded and do not impact the Kansas Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund.
