The U.S. Department of Justice announced a $24 million settlement this morning with Forba, a dental management company based in Nashville, Tenn., to resolve allegations that its Small Smiles clinics performed unnecessary and substandard dental services for children that were billed to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
There are three Small Smiles clinics in Kansas, including one in Wichita. The others are in Topeka and Kansas City.
The Department of Justice said the settlement money would be split between the federal government and states, which administer the Medicaid program.
