ServiceMaster by Best will be recognized by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment at a ceremony at 10 a.m. today for its environmental accomplishments.
David Lazarus, ServiceMaster by Best president, will be recognized by KDHE Secretary Roderick Bremby. The company recently became the first Kansas company to receive the Environmental Standard for Commercial and Institutional Cleaning Services, or GS-42, certification from Green Seal, a nonprofit, U.S.-based eco-labeling organization.
KDHE said the GS-42 certification shows that a service is using products and equipment that have less impact on the environment and has adopted processes and procedures that help protect the health of workers as well as building occupants.
Lazarus will present the award to Wink Hartman in recognition of the green-friendly building he built for Hartman Oil, according to a spokesman for Hartman.
