The Communications Workers of America reached a tentative agreement on a new contract with AT&T this afternoon.
A voting date for membership hasn't been determined, said Gayle Wilson, executive vice president of Local 6402.
The contract covers approximately 26,000 wireline employees in AT&T's Southwest Region that encompasses Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. About 425 employees in the Wichita area are represented, Wilson said.
The contract calls for pay increases of 3 percent a year for the first two years, 2.75 percent in the third year, and 2.75 percent plus a cost of living adjustment in fourth year.
The contract calls for moderate increases in health care premiums, she said.
There are also several changes in the work rules that the union wanted.
The last contract expired April 4.
