The state fire marshal's office has been called in to investigate a Sunday night house explosion in Towanda that left a 38-year-old man with critical injuries.
A mobile home at 674 E. Mills Drive in Towanda exploded just before 8:40 p.m., Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy said.
A neighbor used a garden hose to douse the resident of the house, who was on fire as he fled from the home, Murphy said. The victim, Andrew Covey, has burns over most of his body.
He is in critical condition at the burn unit of Via Christi Regional Medical Center.
