WICHITA — An eastside elementary school was locked down as a precaution for a brief period earlier this morning while police searched for a suspect in the area, a school district spokeswoman said.
The search came in response to a report of a residential burglary, police spokesman Gordon Bassham said. The search ended after police couldn't find any suspects, Bassham said.
The search prompted officials at Price-Harris Communications Magnet, 706 N. Armour, to lock exterior doors as a precaution, district spokeswoman Susan Arensman said. Regular school activities continued inside. The lockdown lasted 20 to 30 minutes, until school officials were told it was safe, she said.
