FORT RILEY — A soldier from Fort Riley has died from wounds suffered in combat last week.
Spc. Tony Carrasco Jr., 25, was wounded when his unit was attacked last Wednesday by insurgents using small arms fire. His unit was providing dismounted security in Ad Dawr, Iraq.
Carrasco was assigned to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.
He entered the Army in January 2008. He was assigned to Fort Riley in September 2008. His home of record is Berino, N.M.
He is the 168th service member from Fort Riley to die while in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
