Burglary a reminder: Close garage door

Wichita police say an early morning burglary today is a good reminder to Wichitans to close their garage doors at night.

Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said a man realized just after 1 this morning that he hadn't shut his garage door, then heard a sound and saw a shadow as he went to close it. He saw someone run off after taking something from his car.

The man, who lives in the 12000 block of West Jewell, saw a man getting into a truck parked outside and got the tag number.

Police went to the tag owner's house and arrested a man there.

"Everybody needs to make sure their garage is closed," Brunscheen said.
