WICHITA — The 17-year-old Southeast High School student who was struck by a bus outside the school Tuesday afternoon remains in fair condition at a local hospital.
The accident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. as the bus was turning from a school driveway into the eastbound lanes of Lincoln, police have said.
The youth was crossing the driveway when he walked in front of the bus. The driver never saw the boy, police said, and both sets of axles ran over the teen.
He is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Wesley Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The 37-year-old woman who was driving the bus was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by USD 259 and Durham School Services.
