A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a truck in west Wichita early Monday morning, authorities said.
The 36-year-old man appeared to step out into traffic in the middle of the 5900 block of West Central at about 12:15 a.m. Monday, Capt. Doug Nolte said.
“It appeared he was trying to cross the street,” Nolte said.
A black Ford Ranger traveling east in the curb lane of Central was unable to stop in time and struck the pedestrian. The victim was transported to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis with serious injuries but is expected to survive, Nolte said.
“Any time you’re crossing the street, you need to be sure the streets are clear,” Nolte said.
