An argument between two men late Monday night culminated in a woman being taken to a local hospital with a stab wound to the chest, police said.
The clash occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. in the 500 block of North New York, Capt. Dan East said. That’s at Central west of I-135 near downtown.
Officers responding to the report of a disturbance arrived at the scene to learn that a 50-year-old man was upset that a 54-year-old man was at the residence talking to his girlfriend, East said. The two men got into an argument, during which the younger man grabbed a kitchen knife.
He stabbed his 37-year-old girlfriend in the chest, East said, but it’s possible he was attempting to stab the other man instead. The woman was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis for what turned out to be “a very minor” cut, East said.
The victim’s boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery in a domestic violence situation.
