East Heights United Methodist Church is holding an Outreach Food Packaging Event on Aug. 8 as a part of its annual block party.

From 6 to 8 p.m., all members of the community are invited to help East Heights meet its goal of packing 30,000 meals for food-insecure children and families. The event has been added to the block party as an effort to include a mission focus in the festivities.

All meals will be distributed through the Communities in Schools program, which serves 22 schools in Wichita and surrounding areas.

In addition to the food packaging event, the block party will feature free food, music, games, a photo booth and bounce house. For more information, go to www.ehumc.org.
