Wichita police are investigating a stabbing of a 28-year-old woman that happened shortly after midnight Saturday.

The woman told police she went to visit a friend at the Mark 8 Inn at 1130 N. Broadway when a female stranger struck her several times in the face and stomach.

The 28-year-old woman went to Walkers Bar and Venue at 220 S. Commerce where she realized she had been stabbed in the abdomen, according to Sgt. Ed Brower, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. The woman was transported in serious but stable condition to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis.

Police officers were unable to locate where the scene of the stabbing took place, Brower said.
