A 22-year-old woman died Saturday in a head-on crash on Kansas Highway 83, about 16 miles north of Liberal, according to a crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Nayeli Gonzalez of Liberal was driving a 2004 Mercedes-Benz north on the highway when a southbound SUV crossed the center line and collided with the car around 8:30 a.m., the highway patrol said.

A 2-year-old boy riding in the car survived, the highway patrol said. He was taken to a local hospital but had no injuries, according to the crash report.

The 39-year-old woman driving the SUV— a 2005 Chevy Tahoe — also survived and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. She is from Liberal, the highway patrol said.
