Two men — one of them brandishing a handgun — robbed the Dollar General on East Pawnee late Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The men walked into the store at 1919 E. Pawnee, near Hydraulic, just before 5 p.m. and demanded money from the cash register, Lt. Dan East said. But the 55-year-old clerk could not get the cash drawer open.
A second employee ran to the office in the back of the store, chased by the other robber, East said. The 45-year-old employee was able to get into the office and close the door before the second robber caught him. He called 911. The robbers left without any cash, East said, though they did take two drinks with them.
The victims provided a detailed description of the suspects, East said. The armed suspect is a black male between 20 and 30 years of age. He is 6-feet-1 and 160 pounds. He wore a white T-shirt, silver shorts and a red baseball hat.
