Wichita may just log its second 100-degree day of the year on Tuesday, but even if the high stays in the upper 90s it’ll still feel like triple digits.
The heat index is expected to climb several degrees above 100 in the Wichita area Tuesday, forecasters say, and central Kansas could see the heat index creep near 110.
Sunny skies and light south-southwesterly breezes will help push the temperature close to 100. Overnight lows will only drop to the mid-70s under mostly clear skies, but a front moving through the region will drop highs on Wednesday several degrees to the mid-90s.
It’ll still be muggy, though, with the heat index topping 100 again, forecasters say. More cool air will drop Thursday’s highs to the low 90s.
