A playful wrestling match between two friends ended unpleasantly Sunday night when they fell from a third-floor balcony at a south Wichita apartment complex, police said.

Both men suffered broken bones and had to be taken to a local hospital, Lt. Dan East said.

The incident was reported at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of South Topeka, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. That’s southeast of Pawnee and Broadway.

The men fell about 25 feet, an officer at the scene estimated. One of the two men, who is 22, sustained a broken nose and collapsed lung, East said. The other man, 19, broke both wrists and his jaw. They did not live there, East said. They were attending a party.

“Both had been drinking, but witnesses did not indicate they were intoxicated,” East said.

Both men were taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis for treatment.
