Two teenage boys were robbed at gunpoint inside their vehicle just after midnight Sunday near 17th and Wellington, Wichita police Lt. Dan East said Monday.
The two, ages 17 and 18, were parked on the side of the road at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, looking for a friend’s house, when they were approached by two men in their 20s who asked if they needed help, East said.
The two men, both armed with handguns, then got into the back of the vehicle and had the victims drive around the area for a bit before robbing them of two iPhones and about $37. They then fled on foot.
Both victims went to a QuikTrip at 21st and Arkansas and reported the incident to an off-duty police officer. One of the cell phones was found in an alley “not far from the area,” East said.
