An intruder attacked and beat a woman inside her house in southeast Wichita early Thursday morning, police said.
A 58-year-old woman told police she heard the family dog barking at about 3 a.m. in the backyard of her house in the 2600 block of Southeast Boulevard Court. That’s just south of Lincoln and just east of I-135.
The woman noticed a back door was open. When she went to close it, she was attacked from behind by a stranger, Lt. Dan East said.
The intruder punched her several times in the face and then stole multiple cellphones and the keys to a gold 2003 Toyota Tundra. The Tundra has a ladder rack on it, East said.
A 55-year-old man who also lives at the house was not injured.
