A woman rushed into the Wesley Medical Center emergency room at 4 a.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound to her forearm, police said, following a struggle inside a vehicle.
The 29-year-old woman reported that “she had just met” the suspect, a black man described as 6 feet, 3 inches tall and about 170 pounds. The man was driving his 2001 Cadillac when the woman wanted out of the vehicle somewhere around 1200 Poplar near 13th and Grove.
He grabbed the victim’s purse and forearm to keep her from jumping out of the car, Wichita police Sgt. Ed Brower said Sunday. Then, the man pulled out a gun.
“She didn’t see a gun,” Brower said, “but a gun went off and she suffered a gunshot wound” to the left forearm.
Never miss a local story.
The victim ran to the emergency room and was uncooperative with law enforcement, Brower said, so the exact location of the incident is unknown. The man was wearing a plaid shirt, jeans and a gold grill with facial hair.
