One man was in critical condition early Sunday morning following a shooting in the 1500 block of N. Pinecrest.

The 20-year-old victim was taken to Wesley Medical Center around 2 a.m. Sunday, Sedgwick County dispatch said, with a gunshot wound on his left thigh.

The 51-year-old 911 caller heard arguments and gunshots outside her home in the neighborhood near 13th and Oliver. It was reported that about 30 people took off running, dispatch said. Some of those were children, Wichita police Sgt. Ed Brower said.

There was “some sort of gathering or party,” Brower said.

“Officers were able to locate shell casings in the street and bullet strikes located in the residence and on the block,” Brower said.

There is no suspect at this time, Brower said.
