Man, 27, sentenced to more than 8 years in prison for home burglaries in Wichita

A 27-year-old man was sentenced Friday to more than eight years in prison for a string of residential burglaries and thefts in the Wichita area.

A 27-year-old man was sentenced Friday to more than eight years in prison for a string of residential burglaries and thefts in the Wichita area.

Willis E. Lewis was sentenced to eight years and two months by Sedgwick County Dristict Judge Bruce Brown.

Lewis was convicted of eight felony charges for burglary, aggravated burglary and theft for crimes committed from October 2012 to February 2014, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.

After entering local houses, he took personal documents, jewelry, electronics and prescription drugs worth more than $3,000. Eyewitness accounts and fingerprints helped to solve the case, the District Attorney’s Office said.

He was arrested April 17, according to jail records.
