A man unhappy over a drug deal gone bad threatened to beat up the double-crosser and ended up being shot early Thursday morning, police said.
The 53-year-old man gave a woman money to go buy drugs shortly after 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Lt. Dan East said. When she never returned, the 53-year-old became upset and called a man he knew and said he would beat the woman up if she didn’t return.
About a half-hour later, someone knocked on the victim’s front door in the 300 block of East Funston, East said. That’s south of Harry and east of Broadway.
When the victim opened the front door, a man fired a shot at him, striking him in the upper torso, East said. A Sedgwick County dispatcher said the man was hit in the right shoulder.
He was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis for treatment.
