Political signs on state highway right of way will be confiscated by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Only regulatory guide signs and warning signs are allowed on the right of way of state highways, the department said this week. KDOT has jurisdiction over those highways.
KDOT maintenance crews will remove political signs or signs for business advertising immediately and without warning when the crews come across them on state right of way, the department said.
The signs will be taken to the closest KDOT office. Owners may pick them up if they agree not to place the signs on state right of way again. Political signs not picked up will be thrown away after the election.
