Authorities will need to see the toxicology reports before they can determine what caused two brothers to die last week at their Augusta home, the town’s public safety director said Tuesday.
Those reports won’t be back for four to six weeks, said Tyler Brewer, the director.
While he said he doesn’t suspect foul play, Brewer said, “We’re not ruling anything out.”
Jeffrey Neal Jones, 53, and Brett Alan Jones, 50, were found dead at their home in Augusta about 4 p.m. Friday. One man was found inside the house and the other outside, Brewer said.
The brothers had a history of alcoholism, he added.
A medical examiner’s report indicated “their livers were bad and both had coronary heart disease,” he said.
