Sandra Garmon Bibb has been named the new dean of Wichita State University’s College of Health Professions effective Aug. 11, according to a news release Wednesday from the university.
Interim dean Keith Pickus will be reassigned to other duties, the release said. He was interim dean for one year.
"Dr. Sandra Bibb has extensive and broad experience in health professions," Tony Vizzini said in the news release. Vizzini is vice president for academic affairs at WSU. "I am excited about her leadership here at Wichita State and the future for the College of Health Professions."
Since August 2011, Bibb was associate dean for faculty affairs at the Graduate School of Nursing, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Science from the University of San Diego. She served in the military as an active duty nurse from 1974 until 2004, the release said.
“I am both honored and enthused to become part of the College of Health Professions team,” Bibb said in the release, “as it leads change in healthcare education in the 21st century.”
