Man steals woman’s purse at gunpoint

An armed man stole a woman’s purse as she stood on her front porch early Wednesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred just after midnight in the 1500 block of North Madison, Lt. Dan East said. That’s just northwest of 13th and Grove in Wichita.

The 21-year-old woman told police she was standing on her porch when a man wearing a white plastic mask over his face approached and pointed a gun at her, East said. He took her purse and then ran off, heading north.

The victim told police the robber was about 5 feet, 10 inches and 170 pounds. He was wearing all black or dark clothing.

She was not hurt in the incident, East said. Anyone with information related to the case is being asked to call investigators at 316-268-4177.
