Kids flock to VarsityKansas Skills Day

Hundreds of smiling Wichita-area youngsters flocked to Heights High School on Friday for VarsityKansas Skills Day, sponsored by The Wichita Eagle and Mel Hambelton Ford. In the morning session, more than 200 kids received free coaching in football, soccer, and track and field. Another 200-plus turned out in the afternoon for basketball, volleyball and wrestling. More than 100 local high school and college athletes and coaches provided the instruction.
