A Sedgwick County homeowner is looking for his 1-year-old brown cocker spaniel, Hershey, who was abducted from his Peck home at about 9 a.m. Friday, sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly said Wednesday.
The homeowner saw a stranger go on his property, near 11500 S. Broadway, and put Hershey in a tan 1990s-model Chevrolet pickup truck before driving off. The dog was in a fenced-in enclosure.
The owner yelled for the man to stop, but the suspect left heading northbound on Broadway.
The loss is estimated at $600.
This was not the first incident of a dog theft in Wichita recently, Mattingly said, though in both other cases, the dogs have been returned to their owners.
Mattingly said Hershey looks less fluffy because the dog had recently been shaved.
