Jennifer Winn, Wichita Republican challenger to Gov. Sam Brownback, announced her new running mate Monday.
West Wichita resident Robin Lais will replace Ethan McCord as a candidate for lieutenant governor. McCord asked to step aside because of ongoing medical issues resulting from wounds he received in the Iraq War.
Lais, a Kansas native and grandmother, owns an advertising agency, a natural healing store and a radio station in Wichita.
“We knew we needed someone strong and independent,” Winn, who owns a family landscaping business, said. “Someone with a strong sense of spending and how to control it, and someone who understands right from wrong.”
Lais said she shares many beliefs with Winn, including better education, better care for U.S. veterans and the success of small businesses.
