A 3-year-old girl has been taken into protective custody after her father led Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputies on a vehicle pursuit, an official said Wednesday.
The 23-year-old Wichita man was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated child endangerment, possession of opiates, fleeing and eluding and for a Pratt County warrant, sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly said.
The office gave this account: At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies tried to stop a white GMC Sonoma for a license-plate violation at Sycamore and Maple. The driver wouldn’t stop, causing officers to pursue him. The driver drove at 40 mph to a home near Central and Meridian, left the vehicle with the 3-year-old and was taken into custody “without incident,” the office said.
