An 80-year-old Garden Plain woman is improving after she was critically injured in a two-car accident, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

She is expected to survive, sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly said. He said the accident occurred at 3:37 p.m. Monday when a 2006 Cadillac didn’t stop at a stop sign on the southbound exit ramp from westbound Kellogg. A 2003 Lincoln Navigator was going north on 295th Street West, and the two vehicles collided.

The Cadillac driver, the Garden Plain woman, was trapped in the car until emergency workers removed her. She was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. The Lincoln driver, a 17-year-old, had minor injuries.
