Police: Shots fired at man in Planeview

Wichita police are investigating a shooting incident in the Planeview neighborhood Wednesday night.

A 35-year-old man told officers a stranger fired five shots at him at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday while he was standing in the front yard of a friend’s residence in the 2600 block of South Roosevelt, Lt. Dan East said. The shots missed. That’s near Pawnee and Hillside.

The targeted man said the shooter was with another person at the time of the incident, East said. They were both 16-year-old Hispanic males who were about 5-feet-7 and 160 pounds.

One wore all gray clothes while the other had on a light-colored polo shirt. They ran southeast of the location after the shots were fired.

“We believe there was some sort of disagreement between the homeowner and the individuals” prior to the shooting incident, East said.

The victim was alone outside at the time of the incident, he said.
