An Oklahoma man charged last year with raping a 13-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to lesser crimes.
Mario Leon White, 29, admitted to two counts of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child on Monday, Sedgwick County District Attorney spokesman Dan Dillon said. The plea came on the same day White’s jury trial was scheduled to begin, court records show.
He will be sentenced June 9.
Under Kansas sentencing guidelines and depending on his criminal history, White could receive probation or as many as 136 months in prison on each count. His original charges — two counts of child rape — are Jessica’s Law offenses; those convicted under the child sex crimes covered under that law face a mandatory minimum prison sentence of life without parole eligibility for 25 years.
White, a resident of Enid, called the rape allegations “fictitious” in court filings. Authorities arrested him on a warrant in San Antonio in August after a woman told police the teen had been a victim of sex crimes in 2012.
