A would-be robber who couldn’t talk two Burger King employees into giving him the code to the safe fired two shotgun blasts in the air before leaving the east Wichita restaurant early Monday morning, police said.
The man approached two employees who were outside on a break at the store at 11551 E. Kellogg at about 2:30 a.m. and pointed a shotgun at them, Lt. Dan East said. He demanded the code to the safe several times, but the 25-year-old woman and 28-year-old man refused to give it to him.
Frustrated by their resistance, the would-be robber fired two shotgun blasts into the air, East said. He demanded that the female employee pick up the shell casings, but she refused.
After picking up the spent shells himself, the suspect left, heading north from the restaurant, which is east of Greenwich Road, East said.
