A man found shot to death Friday night at a Kansas City gas station was identified as 34-year-old Kavyea Curry.
Police were called to the BP station at 4501 Cleveland Ave. at 10:09 p.m. Curry was pronounced dead at the scene. Curry’s 10-year-old son and an unrelated 5-year-old were in the car, police said.
Curry’s son was critically wounded and taken to a hospital. His condition Saturday evening was stable, police said, but he was paralyzed from the chest down because of spinal damage.
The 5-year-old wasn’t injured and was released to his mother.
Police said Curry legally changed his name, which was Charles Washington. He goes by KC.
A lone gunman walked up to Curry’s driver’s-side window and shot several times, police said. Curry’s son was in the front passenger seat.
Police said several service station patrons left the scene before officers arrived.
