Wichita weather: Windy conditions send temperatures, fire threat climbing

It’ll be a warm and windy day in the Wichita area Wednesday, forecasters say. The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch effective from 1 to 7 p.m. for 32 counties in central and southern Kansas, including the Wichita metro area. Winds out of the southwest will be steady in the 20s and gust to 35 mph; temperatures are expected to reach 80 under sunny skies.
