A 28-year-old Wichita man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old last week is facing criminal charges.
Osielo E. Orozco was charged Friday in Sedgwick County District Court with one count of raping a child under the age of 14 on March 28. The allegation falls under Jessica’s Law, which mandates a life prison sentence for those convicted of certain sex acts with minors.
On Friday afternoon, Orozco was being held in Sedgwick County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 17.
The criminal charge comes after the child – a 12-year-old girl – reportedly told authorities that she had engaged in “consentual sex,” a Wichita police report says. She was taken to the Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit for an interview Tuesday, the report says. Orozco was arrested and booked into jail around 11 p.m. that same day, records show.
