Fire crews responded to a restaurant fire early Wednesday morning in northeast Wichita.
The fire call came in at 4:16 a.m., a Sedgwick County 911 dispatcher said.
Sweet Basil, an Italian restaurant at 2424 N. Woodlawn, was reporting a systems alarm at the building, according to Lt. Joe Evans with the Wichita Fire Department. But when the call was investigated, crews discovered smoke and called for extra units.
Crews were soon battling flames and smoke which caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to the structure and $150,000 to the restaurant’s contents, Evans said.
